Bhutan Festival 2008

 

MONGAR FESTIVAL TOUR

DAY 1. ARRIVAL BY DRUK-AIR - PARO
During this flight journey one will have breathtaking views of Mount. Everest, Kanchenjunga and other Himalayan Peaks including Mt. Jomalhari and Mt. Jichu Drake in Bhutan. Upon arrival at Paro airport one will be received by the representative of Dragon Trekkers & Tours on completion of all the formalities at airport, one will be transferred to hotel through the enchanting view of Paro valley. Leisure in the evening.

DAY 2. PARO TO THIMPHU
After breakfast drive for sightseeing of Paro valley. Visit Drugyel Dzong the ruined fortress which withstood the Tibetan invasion in the 17 th century. From here one can enjoy the view of the sacred Mt. Chomolhari and visit a typical Bhutanese farm house to witness how Bhutanese live. On this drive one can see form the motor road side the spectacle view of Taksang (Tiger's Nest) Monastery where Guru Rimpoche meditated and later followed by other saints from Bhutan for the meditation in this holy place. After lunch drive to Thimphu with a visit of Ta-Dzong, the only National Museum in Bhutan. The drive to Thimphu is 2 hours along the winding mountain road and by crossing the confluence of Thimphu and Paro rivers. Overnight at Hotel.

DAY 3 THIMPHU - WANGDI
After breakfast drive for sightseeing to visit National Chorten, built in memory of His Majesty King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, the late King of Bhutan. Visit the Handicrafts Emporium, and the National Library. After lunch drive to Wangdi. Overnight at Guest house of Camp.

DAY 4 WANGDI - JAKAR
After breakfast drive to Jakar with packed lunch crossing two passes via. Peli-la and Yotong-la. The administrative seat and the state monastery for Mangdi district known as Tongsa Dzong will also be passing by. Overnight at tourist lodge or camp.

DAY 5. JAKAR - SIGHTSEEING
After breakfast drive for sightseeing of the beautiful Bumthang valley with a visit to the court yard of Kurji Lhakhang, Jampha Lhakhang, Tamshing Lhakhang, Konchug sum Lhakhang and visit the Swiss farm where they produce the Swiss cheese, fruit juice and wine. After lunch at leisure to walk around the town of Jakar.

DAY 6. JAKAR - MONGAR
After early breakfast drive to Mongar for 192 km enroute if time prevails visit the Ura Lhakhang. Packed lunch served enroute. Overnight at guest house/camp. Alt. 1550m.

DAY 7. MONGAR - FESTIVAL
Full day witness the Tsechu (festival) in the Mongar Dzong. Photography not allowed on the first day.

DAY 8. MONGAR - FESTIVAL
Whole day witness the festival in Mongar Dzong. Photograph is allowed.

DAY 9. MONGAR - TASHIGANG
Morning witness the festival. After lunch drive to Tashigang 3 hours (94 km). Overnight at guest house/camp.

DAY 10 TASHIGANG - SAMDRUP JONGKHAR
Today, after breakfast drive to Samdrup Jongkhar the board town of Bhutan with the Assam state of India. On the way visit Zangthog Pelri Lhakhang (Temple). Packed lunch served enroute. Also visit Zangtog Pelri in the evening at Samdrup Jongkhar. Overnight at guest house/camp.

DAY 11 SAMDRUP JONGKHAR - GAUHATI
Drive to Gauhati to connect Indians Airlines for Delhi or Calcutta.

 

PARO FESTIVAL TOUR

DAY 1. ARRIVAL BY DRUK-AIR - PARO
During this journey one will have breathtaking views of Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga and other Himalayan Peaks including Mt. Chomalhari and Mt. Jichu Drake in Bhutan. Upon arrival at Paro airport you will be received by the representative of Dragon Trekkers and Tours on completion of the formalities at Airport, our representative will take you to the hotel with the drive through the enchanting view of Paro valley. Evening at leisure. Overnight at Hotel/Camp.

DAY 2. PARO TSECHU
Today the great festival of Paro begins inside the Dzong. Visitors are not allowed to take photographs and take even the cameras inside the Dzong. Lunch at hotel. Tsechu programme will be handed over to all the visitors. Overnight at Hotel/Camp.

DAY 3. PARO TSECHU
Whole day festival outside the Dzong at Deyankha or do sightseeing, Photography is allowed. Lunch at hotel. Overnight at Hotel /Camp.

DAY 4. PARO TSECHU
Whole day festival at Deyankha outside Dzong and sightseeing after the festival. Lunch at hotel. Overnight at Hotel /Camp.

DAY 5. PARO TSECHU
Whole day festival at Deyankha outside Dzong. Also sightseeing of Paro valley after the festival. Lunch at hotel. Overnight at Hotel /Camp.

DAY 6. PARO - THIMPHU
Whole morning festival with the display of the Great Thangka and later with dances. After lunch drive to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, for 2 hours through the winding motor road passing villages and agricultural fields. Evening walk around the city of Thimphu. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 7. THIMPHU - SIGHTSEEING
After breakfast drive for the sightseeing of Thimphu valley with a visit to the Great Memorial Chorten, built in memory of His Majesty King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, the Late kind of Bhutan. Visit the handcrafts emporium, Zelukha Nunnery, the National Library and Tashichho-Dzong, the main secretariat building which houses the King's Throne Room, offices for the Ministers and the residence of Je-khempo, (Chief Abbot) and the Monk Body. Overnight at Hotel.

DAY 8. THIMPHU - PARO AIRPORT
Early breakfast, drive to Paro to catch the Druk-Air flight for onward journey.
