Bhutan is located in the eastern Himalayas, bordered by China in the north and the Indian states of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, assam and West Bengal in the east, west and south. The area is 38,394 sq. km with an altitude varying from 180m. to 7,550m. above sea level. The Bhutanese way of life is greatly influenced by religion. Most Bhutanese homes have a special room used for prayers which is known as Chosum.

Tourism in Bhutan has been privatized since October 1991, with the Tourism authority of Bhutan as the sole responsible to control Tourism & Tariff. All the Tours are guided Tours with package of minimum four persons. The official rate is USD200 per person per night. However, you can still travel alone by paying a surcharge of USD40 per night, USD30 per person per night for 2 person travel together and USD20 per person per night for 3 person.

DAY01 PARO - THIMPHU
Arrive Paro by Druk Air. Our representative will receive visitors at Paro airport and help them with visa and customs formalities and later transfer to Thimphu the capital of Bhutan.
Overnight at hotel.
DAY02 THIMPHU - PUNAKHA - THIMPHU
After breakfast full day excursion to Punakha the ancient capital of Bhutan which the Dzong is visitable if Je-khenpo(chief Abbot) and the central Monk Body are in Thimphu in their summer residence. On the way i.e. from Dochula Pass (3100 M) one can view Bhutan mountain ranges including Mt. Gangkarpunsum 7541 M. the highest mountain in Bhutan on the clear day. Packed lunch will be served at Wangdi guest house. After lunch drive back to Thimphu.

DAY03 THIMPHU - PARO
After breakfast witness the cultural show for 1 hour performed by the Royal Dance Toupe and visit Zelu-lka Nunnery, National Library, Handicraft & Emporium and walk around Thimphu city. Lunch served at hotel. After lunch drive to Paroenroute visit Memorial chorten of late King, Simtokha Dzong the first fort built in 1627-29 by Shabdrung, one who unified the Kingdom, which now houses the school for study of Dzong-kha the National language of Bhutan and then continue the journey to Paro.

DAY04 PARO
After breakfast drive to Drugyel Dzong a ruined fortress once which withstood the Tibetan invaders in the 17th century. From here the peak of Chomolhari (7300 M) could be seen on the clear day and also visit a Bhutanese typical farm house and return back to hotel for lunch. After lunch drive to Ta-Dzong, former watch tower for Paro Dzong which now houses the National Museum and drive to Paro town for a stroll and shopping.

8 DAYS THUNDER DRAGON

DAY01 KATHMANDU - PARO
We take a Drukair flight from Kathmandu to Paro, flying parallel with the Eastern Himalayan mountains including Mt. Everest, Makalu and Kanchenjunga. We arrive in the freshness of Pro Valley and our representative will take us to our hotel in Paro. There will be a short briefing before dinner.
Overnight at hotel Olathang or similar class.
DAY02 PARO - THIMPHU
Visit the most important sights in Paro including the Ta Dzong (national museum), the Drukyel Dzong (fort), Kyichu Lakhang, the oldest temple in Bhutan built in AD638 by the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo. After lunch we take an hour and a half drive to Thimphu via Taktsang Lhakhang (temple) called the tiger's lair clinging to the black rock mountain. We spend the night in Thimphu

DAY03 THIMPHU
We take a full sightseeing trip today including the famous Memorial Chorten built in honour of 3rd King, HM Jigme Dorje Wangchuk, Tashichoe Dzong (seat of Government), Changlimithang and the weekly market, Changangkha Lhakhang and Simtokha Dzong, guarding the entrance into Thimphu.

DAY04 THIMPHU-TONGSA
We take a morning drive to Tongsa in central Bhutan over the Black Mountains and Pele La pass (3300 m. or 10825ft.). The drive takes 7 hours and packed lunch is prepared for the journey. Tour highlights is the Tongsa Dzong founded in 1543, a masterpiece of architecture containing a maze of courtyards, passageways, corridors and additional 23 temples.
We spend the night in a lodge.
DAY05 TONGSA-GANTEY GAMPA-PHOBJIKA VALLEY-WANGDI
We head back towards Thimphu stopping by the important cultural, historical and natural sites enroute. Packed lunch is again prepared for the journey. The first stop is at Gantey Gompa (monastery) perched atop a small hill that arise from the floor of Phobjka Valley. The valley of Phobjika, home of the migratory black-necked crane is one of the most beautiful spots in Bhutan. Our second is at Wangdi Phodrang where a dzong is spectacularly perched at a spur on the confluence of two rivers.

DAY06 WANGDI-PUNAKHA-THIMPHU
We take a morning drive to Punakha the old capital of Bhutan to visit Punakha Dzong (fort) built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, the most famous name in Bhutanese history. We then return to Dechen Resort, mendigang for lunch before processing to Thimphu over the Dochu La pass where we stop for some tea and view the eastern Himalayas. We return to Thimphu for in the evening.
DAY07
THIMPHU-PARO
Today we have more opportunity to see Thimphu on our own. A great idea is to hire bicycles and ride the length and breadth of Thimphu breathing the pure and crystalline mountain air. In the afternoon we drive to Paro and check into our hotel. In the evening we visit a typical Bhutanese farmhouse for local food and entertainment.
DAY08 PARO-KATHMANDU
After breakfast we take a transfer to the airport nearby and fly back to Kathmandu.
