KARLOVY VARY - the most famous of the West Bohemian spa towns, owes its fame to its twelve mineral springs with curative properties. The largest and hottest of them, Vridlo(Geyser), bushes to a height of fifteen metres. Becherovka, a traditional herb liqueur which is producted in the town, is referred to as the thirteen curative spring. Equally famous are the karlovy Vary Spa Warfers, thin crips wafers which are as large as a plate. The town experienced its heyday in the 19th century, when most of its spa sanatoria and its elegant covered colonnade connecting the individual springs were built. At that time the spa entertained many prominent personalities of European's political and cultural life. karlovy Vary also serves as the venue of an annual international film festival, which like the festivals in Cannes, Venice and Berlin, boast the prestigious and stars coverge on karlovy Vary at the beginnning of July.
PRAGUE - its location in the natual enviornment and its continuous architectural develpment, which spans over one thousand years, make Prague, a town nestling on several hillocks on both banks of the River Vltava, one of the most magnificent cities in Europe. For centuries Prague has been an important trade junction, as well as a place where scientists and artists from all corners of the world have met. All epochs have left an indelible imprint on the street of Praguem turning the town's historical centre into a varied gallery of architectural styles, ranging from Gothic to the present.
